Keep a close eye on your competitive rank because it’s about to vanish next week with the release of Marvel Rivals’ mid-season patch. According to a recent developer diary from NetEase, players’ ranks will now be reset not only at the start of each season but also halfway through.
The developers explained their reasoning in a statement, saying, “We’ve observed and evaluated how players are performing, and found that the ranks achieved during the first part of Season 1 are the best measure of a player’s skill level. Therefore, we’re implementing an additional rank reset to align with the forthcoming updates and changes!”
Come February 21st, expect to see a shift in ranks as everyone will be moved down four divisions. Marvel Rivals categorizes ranks into three divisions, with an exception for the top tiers such as Eternity and One Above All. So, a player sitting at Gold I will find themselves at Silver II after this reset. When a new season starts, the drop is a bit steeper, with ranks decreased by six divisions. NetEase has hinted that adjustments might be made if this causes too much disruption as players jostle for their rightful spots.
Data from RivalsTracker tells us that a majority of competitive players tend to hover around Silver I to Gold III. This means many are going to find themselves mingling in bronze ranks briefly.
If you’re chasing the Blood Shield Invisible Woman skin, reaching Gold III by next Friday is crucial. The mid-season patch will introduce a new skin reward, and it’s not just about reaching the rank anymore—players will need to complete 10 matches to claim it. This change aims to make sure even high-ranking players engage actively in the game.
Certain players might feel the impact of this rank reset more than others, especially with NetEase planning some “major balance adjustments” in the upcoming patch. The buzz in the community suggests healers are currently dominating, while Moon Knight fans are hoping for improvements to his ultimate ability. Plus, the introduction of characters like the Thing and Human Torch into matches is bound to add an interesting twist.
