Warner Bros has reportedly pulled the plug on a planned expansion for Hogwarts Legacy. According to Bloomberg, this expansion was supposed to roll out alongside the anticipated Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter action RPG, which was expected to introduce fresh storylines.
The decision to cancel the project, reportedly, came down to concerns over the value it would offer for the proposed price. The expansion was under the creative care of Avalanche Software, the original developers of the game, with a collaboration from Rocksteady. Interestingly, Avalanche is also said to be in the early stages of crafting a sequel to the popular Harry Potter game.
Rocksteady, on the other hand, has been in the news for laying off staff following their announcement to cease supporting the 2024 release, Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League.
Last year, Warner Bros openly acknowledged that their gaming division was not meeting expectations. They even made headlines by writing off a staggering $200 million related to the Suicide Squad title. Furthermore, the company has been undergoing significant restructuring, leading to the closure of three studios, including Monolith. In a related development, long-serving executive David Haddad has recently decided to step down.
