Possible Starters for Pokémon Legends Z-A

Signs are increasingly pointing to Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie—the Generation 6 starters—taking the spotlight in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Though details about the game are still under wraps since its teaser release last year, a handful of tantalizing hints have started to surface.

The initial look at Pokémon Legends: Z-A confirmed it takes place in Kalos’ Lumiose City, and nostalgic fans will be thrilled to learn Mega Evolutions are returning. However, much of the game remains a mystery, particularly which starter Pokémon players will begin their journey with.

Despite the lack of an official announcement from The Pokémon Company about which Pokémon will serve as the starters in Legends: Z-A, speculation continues to build around Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. Known previously from Pokémon X and Y, these starters hail from the same Kalos region. Notably, recent artwork from the Pokémon World Championships 2025 prominently featured Chespin and Fennekin, fueling further belief among fans that these are indeed the chosen trio.
