Even though IGN recently reported otherwise, Nintendo hasn’t officially changed the pre-order date for the Nintendo Switch 2 in North America. According to their report, they based this on Nintendo’s FAQ page, which mentions that the first wave of pre-order invitations will be sent out on May 8th. However, this detail has been on the FAQ since the page went live on April 2nd, a full two days before the delay announcement. We verified this information using a Wayback Machine snapshot from the day the site originally launched.
Originally, the pre-orders for the Switch 2 faced a delay due to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. These tariffs would have significantly affected the shipment of Switch 2 systems to the U.S. However, after a 90-day hold, many of these tariffs have been considerably reduced. Despite this development, Nintendo has yet to update or provide any new information regarding their pre-order schedule for North America.
