EA and Maxis have a treat in store for longtime fans of The Sims as part of the game’s 25th-anniversary celebrations. Those rumors about the re-releases of the first two Sims games? They’re true, and you can snag them starting today.
There was buzz about EA launching these classics digitally for PC by the end of January, and indeed, they’ve done just that on January 31st, right at the tail end of the week. Talk about cutting it close!
These re-releases are available on PC through the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. They come under the names The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection. For those who want both, there’s a Sims 25th Birthday Bundle to check out.
In their announcement, EA shared, “To celebrate our legacy and honor the amazing fans who’ve been with us all along, we’re bringing back two beloved classics filled with familiar neighborhoods and characters, like the sneaky burglar, the unpredictable genie, and the unforgettable Sunny the Tragic Clown. It’s time to rediscover that nostalgia and magic that introduced so many of you to our incredible community.”
Now, let’s talk pricing. You can grab the bundle for $39.99, while The Sims: Legacy Collection is at $19.99, and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is priced at $29.99. Each comes with a bunch of expansion packs, though The Sims 2’s IKEA Home Stuff pack didn’t make the cut. Bummer, but you still get a couple of holiday packs and the H&M Fashion Stuff pack to appease your love for corporate collabs. Plus, The Sims 4’s Throwback Fit Kit and Grunge Revival Kit are bundled in too — the first with the original game and the latter with its sequel, just in case you haven’t scooped those up yet.
So why not take a break from lounging around in that meme jacuzzi section of EA’s quirky Sims Y2K website? Dry off and dive into these nostalgic re-releases if you’re in the mood for a trip down memory lane!
