Dino Patti, a well-respected veteran in the gaming industry, has taken back control of Jumpship from Thunderful.
According to GI.biz, Patti, who previously worked at Playdead, has plans to revitalize the studio with a fresh and innovative approach. He originally started Jumpship in 2017 alongside Chris Olsen, and the pair launched their first game, “Somerville,” in 2022.
Later in 2022, Jumpship was acquired by the European company Thunderful. In addition to reclaiming Jumpship, Patti has also purchased shares in Sad Owl Studios, known for developing Viewfinder.
While the financial details of these deals haven’t been disclosed, Patti is vocal about his intentions. He expressed, “I can’t reveal everything just yet, but I’m convinced that the investment and publishing scene has lost its edge.”
He continued, “There’s a need for a major transformation to truly benefit talented game creators and, more importantly, the players.”
Patti emphasized Jumpship’s original mission: “We’ve always been about advancing the emotional depth, storytelling, and creative aspects of gaming. I aim to steer the company into uncharted territories while remaining faithful to our core principles.”
For Patti, this move is about more than financial strategy; it’s a pursuit to rekindle the inspiration that gave birth to Jumpship, propelling it beyond previous achievements.
