Blizzard has taken fans of both Diablo and Berserk by surprise with the exciting announcement of a crossover between the two. While details are still under wraps, players can expect to get their hands on some Guts-themed cosmetics in both Diablo 4 and the mobile game, Diablo Immortal.
Diablo 4 recently shared its roadmap for the upcoming years up to 2025, detailing multiple new seasons for the beloved action role-playing game (ARPG). While some fans met the infographic with disappointment, the mention of two intriguing collaborations sparked curiosity and speculation. Among them was the crossover with Berserk, an iconic anime and manga series, which seemed to capture everyone’s attention.
This crossover has officially been confirmed for both Diablo 4 and Diablo Immortal. The collaboration was teased through a thrilling animated video showing a Barbarian sporting Guts’ Berserker armor and swinging the formidable Dragon Slayer sword against a legion of demons. The clip made its rounds on various social media platforms, confirming that Berserk would indeed be entering the world of Sanctuary in some capacity.
Berserk, a dark fantasy masterpiece crafted by the late Kentaro Miura, first appeared in 1988. Although Miura passed away in 2021, the series lives on, guided by his friend Kouji Mori. Over the years, Berserk has made its mark with anime adaptations, films, video games, and a range of other collaborations, embedding itself and its protagonist Guts firmly into global pop culture. Its brooding themes naturally align with the violent and eerie universe of Diablo.
Currently, there aren’t many concrete details about the specifics of the Diablo x Berserk collaboration. Historically, neither Diablo 4 nor Diablo Immortal has ventured into external IP crossovers, although both have teamed up with World of Warcraft before. That collaboration mostly involved cosmetic items for sale in Diablo 4, while Diablo Immortal featured special events with exclusive challenges and boss fights, alongside free earnable rewards. Based on the teaser trailer, however, players will likely have the chance to wield Guts’ iconic sword and armor.
As of now, no exact release date for the crossover has been announced. Considering that Diablo 4’s Season 8 kicks off on April 29, with its conclusion slated for July when Season 9 begins, we might see the crossover launch sometime in May or June. Fans should stay tuned for more updates as the release date nears.
