Just days after the announcement of Street Fighter 6 for Nintendo’s upcoming console, a detailed graphics comparison has already emerged between the game’s Switch 2, PS4, and PS5 versions. This video serves as a promising indicator for Switch 2, hinting that it can deliver impressive graphics for a handheld device.
Following the Nintendo Direct event focused on the Switch 2 on April 2, the company held two more Treehouse presentations, spotlighting several launch titles for the new console. Among these was Capcom’s Street Fighter 6, designed to showcase the capabilities of the Switch 2.
A YouTuber named ElAnalistaDeBits took the initiative to gather a significant amount of the footage displayed during these events to put alongside the game’s PS4 and PS5 ports. Their in-depth 15-minute video analysis suggests that the Switch 2 version visually stands somewhere between its counterparts from PS4 and PS5.
The most striking differences can be seen between the Switch 2 version and its PS5 counterpart, with the latter featuring slightly more complex lighting and marginally sharper textures. However, these differences are only noticeable upon close scrutiny. Nevertheless, Street Fighter 6 is turning out to be an excellent demonstration of the Switch 2’s hardware potential, which rivals the power of the latest handheld consoles. Capcom has assured that the game will run smoothly at 60fps on Nintendo’s next-generation device, aligning it with the performance seen on other platforms. However, it remains unclear if this performance promise applies to World Tour Mode, as it was locked at 30fps on PS4 while running at 60fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The Switch 2 version of Street Fighter 6 is confirmed to include some fresh exclusive features. One such feature is Calorie Contest, a mode where two players compete to burn the most calories. Another unique addition is Gyro Battle, where players must use the Switch 2’s gyro controls to execute a variety of combos.
Street Fighter 6 is part of a robust lineup of 20 games available at the Switch 2 launch. Players can also look forward to titles such as Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Hitman: World of Assassination, and Mario Kart World. In addition, fans of franchises like The Legend of Zelda will be excited to hear about the release of the Switch 2 Editions of both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Scheduled for release on June 5, the Switch 2 will initially be priced at $449.99 in the U.S., although recent tariffs may affect the final price tag.
