The much-anticipated first major update for Monster Hunter Wilds is almost here, and it’s going to be a thrill for anyone seeking a new challenge or those who thrive on speedrunning. With the introduction of Arena Quests, the game is set to offer intense, time-specific missions that challenge you to take down monsters as quickly as possible. As we gear up for Title Update 1 to drop later this week, Capcom has issued a stern warning to anyone thinking about cheating in Arena Quests or any other time-based challenges, making it clear that there will be account restrictions and suspensions for those caught out.
Monster Hunter Wilds has already established itself as one of the standout PC games of 2025, even with several heavy-hitters still on the horizon. Title Update 1 is poised to enhance and extend the remarkable RPG even further, with these new competitive, time-focused quests being one of the main highlights. Mastering these quests not only requires a deep understanding of the game’s arsenal and creatures, but also demands you become the fastest and fiercest hunter possible. While quick completions come with rewards, the true prize lies in the esteemed positions atop the global leaderboards for those who truly excel.
At the heart of this update are the Arena Quests, which challenge solo players or pairs to defeat specific monsters rapidly, using only a pre-designated set of equipment. You can choose and tailor your setup before diving in, but once you engage the monster, there’s no turning back. Any active status or meal effects your character had prior will be nullified during the quest.
There will also be time-limited Challenge Quests that follow similar guidelines, as well as more lenient Free Challenge Quests. The latter allow participants to use their preferred gear and join teams with up to four players instead of just two.
With prized rewards at stake and the integrity of global leaderboards on the line, Capcom is taking a tough stance against cheats. They’ve released a statement emphasizing their commitment to fair play and cautioning against the use of hacks or external aids, which could lead to suspended accounts or restriction from rewards.
They also noted, “If cheating is found in a multiplayer hunt by any team member, the quest’s completion time becomes void, and eligibility for rewards may be revoked for the entire group. Players are urged to avoid teaming up with anyone suspected of foul play.”
While the threat of strict penalties might deter some would-be cheaters, it’ll be interesting to see how this shakes out once Arena Quests are live. Hopefully, we won’t see leaderboards constantly being shuffled due to the removal of false times, but instead, new and incredible runs that push the limits.
Arena Quests and other time trial missions will be available with Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 1 on the evening of Wednesday, April 3, for those in the PDT and EDT time zones, and early morning Thursday, April 4, for players in the BST and CEST time zones. Exact timings haven’t been disclosed, just these specific dates.
