After weeks of speculations and discussions around tariffs, we finally have a date for when preorders for the Switch 2 will start in the United States.
Nintendo has announced today that starting April 24, which falls on a Thursday, you’ll be able to secure your Switch 2. Pricing remains the same for now, with the standalone system being offered at $449.99 US. If you want to bundle it with the digital version of Mario Kart World, it’ll cost $499.99 US.
That said, there’s an important note to make regarding accessory costs. Due to ongoing changes, prices for certain accessories are going up. The Switch 2 Pro Controller is now set at $84.99, which is a $5 increase, and if you’re looking at getting a pair of Joy-Cons, those will be $94.99, also up by $5. The second dock set is seeing a $10 increase, bringing it to $119.99. Additionally, extra Joy-Con straps will now cost you $13.99, just $1 more than before, and you’ll notice a $5 hike in other accessory prices. You can find a complete list of the updated hardware pricing, as well as the confirmed prices for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, right here in this article.
For our neighbors in Canada, preorders are expected to start on the same day. However, with a national holiday resulting in some delays, definitive confirmation might not arrive just yet. Retailers have yet to update their listings, but Nintendo of Canada has assured that the date along with Canadian pricing will align with the US.
