The team behind Skyblivion, the ambitious modding project set on transforming The Elder Scrolls IV into the magic of Skyrim’s engine, has just hit a significant milestone: they’ve completed landscaping across every region of Cyrodiil. While there’s still a fair amount of work ahead before the mod’s anticipated release in 2025, this achievement is a huge step forward.
Recently, the team shared their progress on Twitter, joyously announcing, “With the Niben Basin and Valley now complete, every inch of Cyrodiil’s landscape has received at least an initial pass. Our next goal is to enhance previously worked-on areas to meet our higher standards.” This update follows details from last month when they mentioned they were putting the finishing touches on the world map, leaving only the Nibenay region at Cyrodiil’s eastern edge.
Of course, this doesn’t mean they’re in the home stretch just yet. There’s more to wrap up, like the detailed navmeshing needed for various regions. If left unpolished, non-playable characters could encounter navigation issues, reminiscent of those occasional hiccups found in the original Skyrim or Oblivion—think NPCs stuck on tree stumps.
Additionally, they’re devoting energy to interiors, especially focusing on quest locations that demand extra time and detailed concept work, unlike typical interiors. They reported six quests were still awaiting development as of the last update.
Skyblivion’s creators are on the lookout for skilled volunteers eager to join their endeavor. If you’re interested, you should definitely consider getting involved.
