Intel has significantly expanded its XeSS technology, now featured in more than 150 games, and there’s plenty more coming soon. The company’s pioneering efforts in discrete GPU manufacturing brought about the introduction of XeSS as part of the Intel Arc Alchemist series. Although it has been around for over two years, throughout its development phases, we now find ourselves at the brink of the next evolution, XeSS 2.
While the adoption of XeSS 2 remains limited at this point, the foundation laid by the original XeSS 1.0 has been successfully implemented across a variety of games. Today, Intel has announced with pride that more than 150 titles currently support XeSS, with further integrations on the horizon.
A sizable list of games utilizing XeSS technology is available, featuring many high-profile and contemporary AAA titles. However, in the broader landscape, XeSS is still finding its place amongst formidable competitors like AMD’s FSR and NVIDIA’s DLSS.
In a recent tweet from Intel Gaming, it was shared: “We’ve hit the mark on 150+ games with #XeSS support, with more on the way! Experience peak gaming with Intel XeSS AI upscaling today.”
Despite making headway, Intel has more ground to cover before standing shoulder-to-shoulder with its rivals. It’s important to note that while a majority of the supported games incorporate XeSS 1 and its subsequent versions, XeSS 2 hasn’t been as widely adopted. Presently, only two games boast XeSS 2 compatibility: F1 2024 and Marvel Rivals. Exciting developments are in store, however, with the upcoming releases of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Killing Floor 3, and several more set to incorporate XeSS 2 technology.
Moreover, certain games have begun to embrace Intel’s XeSS Frame Generation, though this feature isn’t as prevalent as FSR and DLSS Frame Generation techniques. It’s worth mentioning that XeSS 2 and Frame Generation are exclusive to Intel Arc Battlemage GPUs, but currently, only the Arc B580 and Arc B570 are available in this lineup, albeit with limited accessibility.
